Our Mission
MegaConvert is a free online file converter supporting 157+ formats and 2,600+ conversion pairs. Our mission is straightforward: make file conversion fast, free, and accessible to everyone without requiring account creation, software installation, or payment. File format incompatibility is a universal frustration — a video that will not play, a font that looks wrong, a document that will not open. MegaConvert exists to solve that problem instantly, in a browser, for free.
We believe basic interoperability tooling should not be gated behind paywalls or behind sign-up flows that exist mostly to harvest email addresses for marketing. The web has always worked best when small, focused tools do one job well — and file conversion is one of those jobs. You arrive, the file converts, you leave with what you need. That is what MegaConvert is.
Why MegaConvert Exists
Every existing free converter we tried suffered from at least one of three problems. Some buried the actual conversion behind eight pages of upsell, hoping you would eventually pay for the upgrade. Some shipped passable conversion with aggressive pop-up advertising that slowed the browser to a crawl. Some imposed arbitrary file-size limits — 5 MB free, more if you create an account, more again if you pay monthly — that made everyday workflows impossible. None of them treated the format-conversion job as the actual product.
MegaConvert prioritizes the conversion itself. Pages load fast. The converter widget appears above the fold. There are no countdown timers, no waiting queues for free users, no captchas to prove you are a human. Files up to 100 MB convert in seconds. The advertising that funds the service is segregated from the conversion path so the workflow stays clean.

How It Works
Using MegaConvert is simple. Upload your file using the file picker or by dragging and dropping it onto the converter. Select your target format from the dropdown menu. Click Convert. Your file is processed on our servers and the converted result is ready to download within seconds. All processing happens securely on our servers — you do not need to install any software, browser extension, or plugin.
For common conversion pairs — like JPEG to PNG, MP4 to MP3, or DOCX to PDF — you can navigate directly to the converter using the format-specific pages (for example, /convert/jpeg-to-png) which include format-specific tips and guidance.
Privacy and Security
Your files are private. Files uploaded to MegaConvert are processed solely for the purpose of format conversion and are automatically deleted after conversion. We never store, share, or access your file contents for any purpose beyond completing the conversion you requested.
We do not require account creation or login of any kind. Because we collect no personal information, there is no profile to build, no email address to harvest, and no personal data at risk. IP addresses may be temporarily logged for rate limiting purposes only and are not retained long-term.

No account is required to use MegaConvert. We do not add watermarks to converted files. We do not impose artificial conversion limits, queue times, or paywalls. Files up to 100MB can be converted without restriction. The service is supported by advertising, which allows us to keep it completely free for everyone.
How MegaConvert is Funded
MegaConvert is supported entirely by display advertising. Google AdSense places relevant ads alongside the converter and on supporting pages. We do not run pop-ups, interstitials, redirect ads, or anything that interferes with the conversion workflow. We do not sell user data — there is no user data to sell, since accounts are not required and file content is not retained.
Being ad-supported has trade-offs we are upfront about. Pages have ad slots in places where they do not block content. We do not promise an ad-free experience, and we do not offer a paid tier that would remove ads — the moment we did, we would have an incentive to make the free tier worse, and that is not the kind of business we want to run. If you find ads on the site genuinely intrusive, browser ad-blockers are universally tolerated and we do not detect or fight them.
Run by Real Engineers
MegaConvert was founded and is run by Christopher Floied, BSME, a mechanical engineer turned software developer who has shipped tooling across web, iOS, and B2B for the past decade. The site started as a personal frustration project after losing a working afternoon to file-format incompatibility on a deadline; it grew into the platform it is today as more people kept asking for "just one more format".
Real engineers reading every support ticket has practical consequences for the product. Bugs get diagnosed by someone who can read the conversion pipeline. Format requests get evaluated by someone who knows whether the underlying tooling exists. The roadmap is shaped by what real users actually struggle with — not by what makes the funnel metrics look better in a board deck.
Technology
MegaConvert is built with modern web technologies to deliver fast, reliable conversions. The frontend is a Next.js application served from a global CDN for low-latency page loads worldwide. The conversion backend uses industry-standard open-source tools and libraries for each format category — the same tools used by professionals in video production, software development, and digital publishing. Conversion jobs are processed in isolated environments to ensure security and performance.
